The National Library of Jamaica (NLJ) on Saturday, April 7, 2018, hosted Sharon Johnson-Wright as she launched her book, Vantage Point - An Anthology of Poems, which is a collection of published Jamaican poetry.

Johnson-Wright's anthology touches on topical and contemporary events in Jamaica from 2006 to the present. Poems reference notable Jamaican personalities and delve into topics ranging from the Zika virus to Usain Bolt and Miss Universe Jamaica 2017, Davina Bennett.

Johnson-Wright's poetry is presented in an accessible and inclusive way with poems being written in both standard English and Jamaican Creole.

"We at NLJ [are happy] to facilitate the launch of Vantage Point - An Anthology of Poems," said Beverley Lashley, national librarian, NLJ. "It is momentous for us as we move to bring more vibrancy to the NLJ space and encourage creativity, literature and poetry to thrive."

In addition to launching the book, Johnson-Wright deposited copies to the NLJ in accordance with the Legal Deposit Act.

"The NLJ remains committed to promoting, strengthening and maintaining relationships between publishers and authors, both locally and internationally," Lashley added.
