Shemar’s art shines at Foga Road High
Shemar Bernard, a student at Foga Road High School, is exceedingly passionate about becoming a successful, renowned artist. Bernard talked about being a creative and passionate student.
He is responsible for many of the stunning art pieces that stretch along Block E, captivating any and all who behold them.
“Art was and still is my life,” he said.
“I consider art as everything around us. Reflecting on pieces I’ve done, I’ve seen major improvement in the maturity of my work. I started out by drawing cartoons I saw in The Gleaner and drawing posters and flyers for people in my community, which led to me becoming a nascent entrepreneur at the age of 10. I saw myself as the only 10-year-old with the mindset of a businessman,” said Shemar.
“I’ve been doing art since the day I first held a pencil. I realised that I felt compelled to reproduce every form of art I saw in The Gleaner. At that age, I was unlike every other child who entertained themselves with drawing, games, and films; however, at the end of the day, art is still my life,” he said.
