Obryan’s customised Axio turning heads
Simple touches can raise anything from the ordinary to the extraordinary, making the item unforgettable, and leaving others with a sense of delight and wonder. Obryan Henry’s 2015 Toyota Corolla Axio, is the recipient of such attention and has been winning awards as a result.
After seeing another car with some interesting detailing, Henry decided to adopt the idea.
“I was actually scrolling through Instagram and I saw an Axio like my own, a white one, and it looked good so I reached out to the person and he responded and told me all he did to the car,” Henry disclosed. “It did look nice; me did just like the look of it.”
He had bought his Axio in July 2018 and started the process of customisation around November after making contact with Clayton Ennis, the owner of the white Axio.
“Clayton and me link up and he basically sold most of the stuff that is on the car, except the side skirting. But everything else he did it, I didn’t do anything myself, I just let him deal with it,” Henry explained.
There is a carbon fibre finish on the front grill, and around the fog lights, and the same design on the armrest and centre console inside the car. Added to this are new rims and diffuser on the back of the car.
When you lift the bonnet, there is an airbrushed design of Super Mario on the underside, and a cacophony of neon colours that blend well together on the engine bay. Other small detailing only brought the custom designs together.
According to Henry, the upgrades were completed around February, and had a uniformed finish both on the exterior and the interior of the vehicle.
“The bodywork for the car was done by Goose Garage in Trelawny, and the airbrush designs by Dipitja and gq_designs,” Henry told Automotives.
When asked the cost, he said that the customisations totalled approximately half a million dollars.
“Because I did not do all of it one time, it is hard to tell you the amount, but it is roughly $500,000,” he said. “It might not look like much, but the rims alone cost $145,000.”
As a result of these upgrades, Henry’s customised Toyota Axio has driven away with awards from car show events.
“I have about five trophies for best rims, best engine bay, cleanest car, and sexiest car, and another one that I can’t remember. Me nuh really go a anymore car show since that, so I haven’t won anymore,” he boasted.
