King's House Foundation continues to lobby for real estate project

King's House Foundation is hoping the development of town houses on 10 acres of crown lands will come to fruition under the Holness administration.
The matter was before Parliament for approval before the February 2016 elections.
"Since the government changed, we had a meeting with the Prime Minister [Andrew Holness] to try and get it back on track. He said that he would look into it so that is where it is at the present time," said King's House Foundation board member Christopher Bovell.
The foundation had proposed to develop middle-to-upper-income town houses on a portion of the King's House lands as a means of generating investment income for the foundation, whose job it is to maintain the Crown property. King's House is the official residence of the Governor General.
Costs associated with the upkeep of the 100-acre property have grown burdensome over the years, so the foundation formulated the real- estate development project to offset some of the expenses.
Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust Limited, a property conglomerate, was selected to build the units which will sit at the north-western corner of King's House. The area for development borders Annette Crescent on Upper Waterloo Road.
The King's House Foundation was formed over 10 years ago manage the upkeep of the property, which at the time had started falling into disrepair, according to Bovell.
