NLA upgrades property search portal JAMPROP

National Land Agency, NLA, has added new features to the Jamaica Property Sales online portal, a paid for service branded as JAMPROP.

In addition to sales data on registered properties, subscribers will now be able to view spatial or integrated maps, and do what the NLA calls a ‘buffer search’ for data on neighbouring land parcels to the property of interest, and pay for the service online.

A year-long subscription to JAMPROP costs $75,000. Access for half-year costs $40,000.

Virtual AGM for Wigton and its 29,000 owners

Wigton Windfarm Limited, the company with the second largest block of shareholders on the Jamaica Stock Exchange, behind TransJamaican Highway, will be holding its annual general meeting in a month, facilitated by a court order that allows for virtual participation.

The renewable energy company will stream the AGM on October 21 from Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, where it will accommodate the physical presence of a limited number of persons in accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Wigton has more than 29,000 shareholders, while TransJamaican has over 31,600.

Sagicor Bank online account opening

Effective Monday, Sagicor Bank, Jamaica’s fourth-largest commercial bank, now allows new and existing customers to open savings accounts without having to visit a branch.

They can sign up online through the Sagicor’s banking platform, a process that includes a virtual meeting with the applicant via video conference.

“This portal will allow clients the opportunity to have a Sagicor Bank account within 48 hours of submitting an application,” said Sagicor Bank CEO Chorvelle Johnson Cunningham in a company statement.

The opening of accounts online comports with the new culture of distancing to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

However, debit cards linked to the accounts have to be collected in person at the bank’s branches.
