Two earthquakes felt in Trinidad

The  Seismic Research Centre of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies said that the stronger of the two earthquakes, was felt at 8.21 a.m.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC - Two earthquakes, including one with a magnitude of 5.1, rocked the Trinidad and Tobago capital, Port of Spain, on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injury.

The  Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies said that the stronger of the two earthquakes, was felt at 8.21 a.m. (local time) and was located at Latitude: 10.98N, Longitude: 62.42W and at a depth of 71 kilometres (km).

It said it was felt in Port of Spain, 107 kilometres west north west and Arima at 132 kilometres, west north west.

The quake was also felt in Carúpano, Venezuela, 96 kilometres, north east.

The other tremor occurred at 3:38 a.m. (local time) and had a magnitude of 3.6. The SRC said that it was located Latitude: 10.98N, Longitude: 62.64W at a depth of 56 kilometres.

It was felt in Port of Spain 130 km, west north west, and east of  Porlamar in Venezuela at 134 km.

The two earthquakes follow the magnitude 4.0 on Saturday that was also felt in he neighbouring cities of Castries in St Lucia, Fort-de-France in Martinique and Bridgetown, Barbados.
