Jah Cure eyes Grammy following Billboard success

Reggae artiste Jah Cure continues to hold firm in the Top 10 of the Billboard reggae chart and has not fallen since his album The Cure was released 18 weeks ago, peaking at No. 1.

Cure now sits at No. 4, moving up one place from last week's spot. Jah Cure ,who has been performing in the Caribbean extensively, is unable to perform in the United States due to travelling issues; however, his music appears to be making an impact in other places as The Cure is one of the few albums released by a Jamaican reggae artiste to have achieved such success on the Billboard reggae chart,

spending an even longer stint in the top 10 than Ky-mani Marley's recent album titled Maestro.

The Cure was recently declared a classic album by ABC News, and according to Jah Cure, he is hoping to nab a Grammy award for the effort. He also said that he produced the album, and he is encouraging other Jamaican artistes to follow his lead.

"When I look at the body of the work and the time I spend, I deliberately tell myself that I have to make a step to the next level, and if I don't achieve that in this album, it means I'm going backwards. We are holding strong on the chart. Local artistes are not staying on the charts for more than three weeks, and I looked into it and say I'm gonna make a mixture of fusion music so that people across the world can relate. I am looking forward to the Grammys this year, whether I am nominated or get it, but this album is doing well," Jah Cure said.

But before Jah Cure can focus on the Grammy award, the artiste will perhaps have to surpass England's reggae artiste, Joss Stone, who has returned to the No.1 spot this week with her album Water For Your Soul. Stone's album has been on the reggae chart now for 15 weeks.

Carlene Davis continues to be the lone gospel singer on the Billboard Reggae Top 10 chart.
