It was by no means a trial run for first-timers Xaymaca on the road on Carnival Sunday. They came, they saw, they conquered.

The out-of-many-one band rolled out a few minutes after 10 a.m. from the Knusford Express parking area with the threat of rain and a few faithful revellers. But as the truck strolled through the city, the band picked up the 'Mas' of their revellers, creating a sea of soca junkies determined to have fun no matter the predictions from the meteorological office.

The Gleaner reached out to some of the revellers to find out if they were fazed in any way by the dark clouds. Repeatedly, they responded: "Rain only stops cricket."

A tearful Kandi King told The Gleaner that she was overwhelmed by the support and the success of the band, seeing that it was the first time. She could hardly find words to express her emotions and shared that she could only cry when she realised that all the hard wok had paid off.

Aiming to be the ultimate all-inclusive band, Xaymaca provided a section for the full-figured women, who, indeed, looked #Rogue on the road. Designer Dania Beckford was extremely happy with the fact that her section was sold out, admitting that there were a few lessons to learnt, but they will be back next year even better.

The bystanders were by no means to.be left out, as they lined the streets to capture a part of an unforgettable experience.

Andrew Bellamy marched with a broad smile, happy that his brainchild had grown into an experience that will be stamped on the hearts and minds of both foreigners and locals.

Undoubtedly, the Xaymacans will be back on the road come next year, improving on an incredible experience.
