Ras Emmanuel receives reggae ambassador proclamation for New Jersey

New Jersey's multi-award winning reggae deejay, Ras Emmanuel, has earned yet another feather in his cap.

The artiste who hails from White Marl in St Catherine, Jamaica, recently received a proclamation for reggae ambassador for New Jersey, the first such award of its kind from the Essex County Freeholders.

The proclamation was made in recognition of Ras Emmanuel's outstanding presence and contribution to entertainment in Essex County in New Jersey, and also for his efforts for promoting reggae music at home and abroad. Essex County includes Newark, Irvington and the Oranges, and the county has the largest number of Jamaicans in the State of New Jersey.

The presentation was made a few days ago at Branch Brook Park in Newark.

"I feel joyful and very honoured to be the recipient of this prestigious award", Ras Emmanuel said.

The recognition did not come as a surprise to music industry insiders in the New York and New Jersey area, as Ras Emmanuel has been seen as an advocate of peace, love and togetherness through music in local communities. He has also been the recipient on several occasions of the 'New Jersey DJ of the Year Award'.

Ras Emmanuel's latest album is called 'That Day' and his next area performance is on November 12 with Sister Nancy at the New York City Reggae Festival at Pianos in Manhattan.
