Irie Jam's Executive VP, Louis Grant

To show their commitment to Marley's life, legacy and cultural significance, Grant said Irie Jam Radio will host an 'earthstrong' celebration, billed 'The Birth of A King', on Tuesday, February 6, at SOB7s Club in Manhattan.

The event will feature the performance of a rising superstar out of Kingston, recording artiste Dre Island, who will make his New York debut. Ironically, the event will be held just a few miles away from the venue of Marley's last New York performance in 1979 at the world-famous Madison Square Gardens, where Marley outshined headliners, the Commodores.

Music for the celebration will be provided by Road international, Dubb Master Chris, Massive B, DJ Gringo and DJ Gravy. The celebration will also be streamed globally on the new Irie Jam 360 app with live radio broadcast in the Tri-State on Irie Jam Radio, 93.5 FM.

"It is important for us to celebrate the life and legacy of this important reggae legend. This is our contribution to Reggae History Month 2018," Grant said.
