Pulse launches high school model search

Pulse, the company that created a modelling industry for Jamaica and the wider Caribbean, almost 40 years ago, has announced its latest innovation - the Pulse School Search Tour.

The new Pulse School Search Tour will expand a movement that has changed the face of personal and professional development of young people in the Caribbean. "We are pleased to be introducing this new game-changing initiative that will expand career choices for students while giving them the opportunity of a lifetime, as successful model search contestants will travel the world, develop new careers, and transform their lives and potentially that of their families and communities, once they leave high school," explains Pulse chairman and creator of the Model Search, Kingsley Cooper.

The initiative can be seen as a formalisation of a movement the company began years ago, producing model superstars such as Lois Samuels (Hampton), Nell Robinson (Immaculate), Carla Campbell (Merl Grove), Gaye McDonald (Holy Childhood), Jeneil Williams (Vere), Jaunel McKenzie (XLCR), Nikki Morris (The Manning's School), Nikki Vassel (Campion), Romae Gordon (Alpha), Alicia Burke (Vere), Parisa Fitz-Henley and Justine Willoughby (St Andrew), Oraine Barrett (Munro), and Francine James (Camperdown).

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION

Pulse has always been a strong advocate of education, and although many of the company's models have been discovered while in high school, the agency has ensured that they successfully complete their studies before commencing full-time international careers. In fact, the importance of education remains central among Pulse's top-flight talent as several of them have earned bachelor's as well as postgraduate degrees after their international modelling careers. The Pulse School Search Tour will have its first major event in the summer of 2018, and will feature over 40 schools. The training and grooming component is also attractive for the schools as the students are set to benefit from the personal development and life skills that come with the programme. Some of the schools that have confirmed their participation are Alpha Academy, Belair, Excelsior, St Jago, St Hugh's, Camperdown, Holy Trinity, Manning's, Ruseas's, Queen's, Vere Technical, Titichfield High, Marymount High, Quality Academics, Hydel Group of Schools, Old Harbour High, Maths Unlimited, Yallahs High,Tarrant High, Fair Prospect High, Morant Bay High, Seaforth High, Buff Bay, Happy Grove and STETHS, among several others.

Since 1983, the Pulse's Model Search through its live events and CMS TV shows have discovered, developed and placed a host of international stars on the global fashion stage.

Pulse international models have not only been successful on an extraordinary scale, but they created new paths for those who would follow.
