What Party?! set to clean up alma mater

As many persons come to terms with the new environmental order (the banning of single- use plastic bags), others are picking up the pace on practices they have already employed in life and business. Having seen growth in their fledgling clean-up business, the What Party?! team has decided that it's not too soon to give back.

The team is calling all Wolmerians - past and present - to participate in a clean-up exercise on the boys' campus on Saturday, January 12.

"It's a non-profit, in aid of maintaining a clean environment for the boys at our alma mater. We're hoping to do more of this, but I feel like this is a good start at the top the new year," Chief Financial Officer Romario Creary told The Gleaner.

What Party Ja?! started two years ago by friends: Creary, Oliver Turnbull, Nicholas Griffiths, and Matthew Levy.

The original plan was to invite volunteers to clean the compound before the school reopening for the Easter semester. Creary said, "That was the plan, but we had to push it back. There was a lot of background work to be done."

Along with arranging the most reasonable date for staff, the young business owners also negotiated that for the students who participate, their hours will be merited to their community service tallies.

"Also, we wanted to open it up the wider Wolmer's community. The extended time helps us to gather as many resources as possible for the cause," he added.

What Party?! plans to execute more voluntary clean-ups throughout the year beyond their old compound.

"Particularly in aid of recycling efforts, What Party?! will be doing all we can to ensure we play our part in maintaining a sustainable environment," Creary said.
