Five years ago, Grammy Award-winning artiste Sean Paul rocked the Billboard Latin Music Awards with an opening performance alongside the group Wisin with their song Baby Danger. And he is set to light up the stage again this year.

Yesterday morning, Telemundo, a division of NBC Universal, officially unveiled the last batch of performers to take the stage at the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Included in this group are Colombian urban star and 13-time finalist J Balvin and Jamaican dancehall superstar Sean Paul, who recently released a banging collaboration.

The bilingual single, Contra La Pared, which was released on March 14, marks the first time that the two artistes have worked together on a project. The music video premiered the following day, and Sean Paul has been promoting it full speed via his social-media pages. Directed by Andy Hines, the music video was shot at Utah’s Lake Powell.

Interestingly, J Balvin is fresh off headlining at Coachella, where he brought out Sean Paul for a performance of Contra La Pared. He was also joined by Spanish singer Rosalía for their single Con Altura, and elsewhere in the set, Balvin was joined by dancers dressed as Cardi B and Bad Bunny as he performed I Like It.

Billboard notes that J Balvin penned a message to his fans ahead of the set, saying: “Last year, I was with Beyoncé, today it’s about Latinos and dreamers. It’s about people like me who are not afraid to follow their dreams, and it’s about all those people that are called different. We still need people to continue to call us crazy for being dreamers. Welcome to another chapter of my adventures.”

COLLAB STREAK

Sean Paul seems to be on a collaboration streak. He did Shot And Wine with Stefflon Don; was in top form on Boasy, a track with Wiley, Stefflon Don, and Idris Elba; and then did the collaboration with J Balvin.

Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio, Sean Paul said there are more collabs in the making. “Later on in the year, I have songs with Sia, songs with Rita Ora. I’ve worked with Raye,” he said.

Less than two weeks away, the prestigious awards show, scheduled to air on April 25 at 8 p.m. ET on Telemundo, will include performances from Mexican star Adriel Favela, Puerto Rican songstress Kany Garcia, and bachata singer Raulin Rodriguez.

The new wave of artistes joins previously announced performers CNCO, Bad Bunny, Marc Anthony, Karol G, Wisin and more.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards is the culmination of Billboard’s Latin Music Week, which will take place on April 22-25 at The Venetian in Las Vegas. Now in its 29th year, the Latin Music Week and Conference is the biggest and longest-running event dedicated to Latin music in the world.
