It is normal for someone to tell a person to go listen to this song or that album because it is worth a few minutes of their time, or to listen to this group because they have amazing chemistry.

What people hardly discuss is song titles. For Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, who has her own specially curated playlist of reggae and dancehall hitters, titles say a lot about a song.

“Each title means something to me and the order in which I placed them in the list,” Minister Grange told The Gleaner.

She added, “It surely was not easy, as my playlist comprises many more songs.”

Her current top 10 tracks in her very extensive playlist are in this order:

1. Toast – Koffee

2. Spanish Town Rockin’ – Chronixx

3. Time Will Tell – Bob Marley

4. Destiny – Buju Banton

5. Family – Popcaan

6. Always Around – Third World

7. She’s Royal – Tarrus Riley

8. I Shall Sing – Marcia Griffiths

9. Standing In My Way – Beres Hammond

10. Bam Bam (remix) – Jay Z featuring Damian Marley and Sister Nancy

“It is a mix of the old and the new,” she expressed, while at the same time noting that it was not easy to compile the list, and as such decided to give brawta and make it a top 12 playlist, with Touch Down by Stylo G earning the No. 11 spot and Welcome to Jamrock by Damian Marley still holding a special place in Minister Grange’s playlist at No. 12.
