Jamaica's Toni-Ann Singh sang her way into the top 40 of the Miss World competition yesterday.

Singh performed Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing' to win the talent competition.

Keeping her opponents at bay with some strong vocals, Singh beat out the queens from Armenia, Malta, British Virgin Islands and Canada for the fast-track title.

Her win has caused support for her to surge to new heights with former Miss World contestant Terri-Karelle Reid already handpicking her as the one to walk away with the crown.

“If dat girl don’t bring home the crown, me a go have a personal issue with Miss World. I just want to take this opportunity to say my girl, I knew you could do it, you did it. You landed talent and I just wanna wish you all the best,” Reid said in a post to her IG stories.

The last time Jamaica won the international competition was 26 years ago – three years before Singh was born – when an 18-year-old Lisa Hanna took the crown ahead of 80 other beauties in Sun City, South Africa.

Jamaica has had two other previous winners of the international competition: Carol Joan Crawford in 1963 and Cindy Breakspeare 1976.

The finals of the Miss World competition will be held on Saturday at the Excel Arena in London.

The pageant will be broadcast live on TVJ.
