As Carnival Sunday fast approaches, Matt Camps provided us with a list of 10 songs that every reveller should know ahead of the road march.

A soca lover, the disc jock has been playing professionally since 2018; however, his journey of creating soca mixtapes began in 2016.

“I really love everything, and soca just so happens to be one of the genres that I love the most,” he told The Gleaner during a telephone interview. The DJ stated that although he specialises in most genres of music, soca is his preferred area of expertise. “Soca is like gospel for me – woman, rum and enjoying your life,” he said.

As for his favourite song this season, although it was a slightly challenging decision to make, the music enthusiast stated that for the upcoming soca season his favourite song is Mash Up by Blaxx.

For DJs on the road, he recommends keeping the energy of the audience at a high. “When you are walking on the road you need energy, so you can’t slow down the music and you can’t be boring up the place,” he said.
