Kingston’s Waterfront will be lit and alive this New Year’s Eve. In addition to Urban Development Corporation’s (UDC) Fireworks on the Waterfront, Marquee Entertainment also returns with its premium event, Midnight at Bal Harbour, after a two-year hiatus.

Rebranded Midnight ChiQ, the organisers have proclaimed it is the fashion affair to ring in the new year. “From the moment we announced it, the reactions have been staggering with persons expressing how much they can’t wait for the experience. We knew that people would have been excited about the prospect of our New Year’s Eve event but then, seeing the early bird tickets move so quickly online was an added surprise for the team,” event director Jermaine Brown told The Gleaner.

“After two years of lockdown, and no grand celebrations, we are hearing our patrons head to top boutiques in Kingston to secure their most chic outfits and the gentlemen are trying their hardest to get a Carlton Brown suit for the occasion, it is going to be an amazing fashion-heavy event. It’s been two years since Jamaica has seen a proper New Year’s Eve party and we have no doubt that the patrons will welcome 2023 in fine style on the waterfront,” he continued.

Marquee Entertainment is pulling out all the stops with its premium inclusive food and drink to its entertainment package he said, with a goal to make Midnight ChiQ the most talked about event for the season.

BEST IN ENTERTAINMENT

“We want our patrons to be feted with an experience they will be happy to take into 2023, [so] patrons will experience delectable surf and turf from Rainforest Seafood and Murray’s Fish & Jerk Hut respectively while our partners Select Brands are ensuring that GH Mumm Champagne will be on ice as well as The Glenlivet Scotch and Absolut Vodka and last, but not least, a sweet surprise courtesy of Tortuga,” he said. “We wanted to give our guests what we believe is the best in entertainment, that will appeal to a wide cross-section of patrons this includes some of the best selectors including Marc Chin of Coppershot Music, DJ Franco, DJ Nova and DJ Romziinova. We are extremely excited about the event’s return as well as rebranding and express gratitude to all our sponsors…we have Bounty, Febreze, Coca-Cola, Tru-Juice and WATA on board too, ”

The organisers are also working in conjunction with the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the UDC to guarantee an incident-free execution and proper traffic management in the downtown area.

Brown shared, “We’re on the ground with the JCF and through a partnership with UDC, we will be able to monitor both traffic and parking. Traffic management will be primarily by Central Police and our private security teams and we’ll be managing such from Heroes Circle. The traffic changes have been provided to the public, and we are urging persons to utilise East Street as the main thoroughfare to the event.”

He further emphasised that there is secured, paid parking being made available which the UDC will be in charge of.

“Parking lots of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Scotiabank will be open; these secured and designated parking areas will be at a cost of $600 and signs have already been posted for persons to familiarise themselves with the parking areas,” Brown said.
