Real dancehall Dream Wknd attendees were treated to an iconic showdown at World Vibes last Sunday. Marking the halfway point through Dream Wknd, partygoers were out in their numbers despite their earlier rendezvous in the rain at Wet ‘N Wild.

Arguably the most anticipated performance of the weekend, Tommy Lee’s appearance was certainly the highlight of the night. Preluding that, the night’s DJs took charge of the stage, building an incredible vibe with the audience. YM Ent, Code Red, Di Unit and Tony Matterhorn each upped the ante during their respective sets.

However, with an unexpected twist, Tony Matterhorn called out Badda Bling from Di Unit, resulting in an impromptu but friendly clash. Both selectors went dub-for-dub, with Tony Matterhorn pulling from his catalogue, dubs from Aidonia and Mavado, while Badda Bling drew for the Vybz Kartel, eliciting an uproar from the intrigued patrons. Not to be left out, Chris Diamond from Code Red joined the clash upon being mentioned by the parties. He single-handedly decimated his opponents with a Sizzla Kalonji dub that sent lighters blazing throughout the venue.

This momentum was exceptional, as it made for the perfect segue into the night’s performance. Taking the stage at 3:30 a.m. to the sounds of Under Vibes, Tommy Lee entered the stage with high energy, easily eliciting excited screams and cheers from the crowd. He performed a number of his songs, including Money Make Friend, Warn Dem, an a cappella performance of his Redemption Song and Vibes Inna Dis. Bigging up the World Boss throughout his set, Tommy Lee brought a few members of his Sparta family on stage to show off their skills, providing them with a few minutes to perform a song.

Despite being on stage for 30 minutes, the artiste was seemingly willing to continue his performance, based on the crowd’s reaction and the fact that he was visibly enjoying his time on stage. “Big up Dream Wknd straight! Is a joy fi fawud out and perform once again on di Dream stage. You know wi have some new songs weh just drop, one of which name Angel, so fans can look out fi dat, as well as the EP and album weh a drop soon,” said an elated Tommy Lee.

Ron Burke, Dream Wknd festival director, was pleased with the performance, stating that “Tonight’s show was epic! From the clash straight down to the performance, it was nothing short of iconic. Tommy Lee really worked the crowd, and the patrons just as easily reciprocated the energy, making the performance even more special.”

World Vibes ended at approximately 4 o’clock Monday morning, leaving patrons on a musical high and anticipating Celebrity Playground later that night.
