Kelly's World | No thanks, I'm good

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us." - Marianne Williams

But I'm starting in the middle. Let me go from the top. Ahem, it's official; I'm going to remain in a physical and figurative middle management galaxy for the rest of my life.

I've often said that I don't want certain posts because usually they come with certain headaches and whole heap a problems.

For example, any job that requires me to address angry sounding members of the Parliament down by Gordon House, is not a job for me.

Yes, the money may be good, and if it's the right state-run agency, the money might be great.

Sure it won't be what an oil mogul will make, but it's still pretty good cheddar.

But all the pressure and pain that come with such jobs, just don't seem like they're worth me having a stroke, a brain aneurysm or seeing blood in my stool.

I've been watching, like more than a few Jamaicans, the happenings in the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC) meetings as it relates to the shenanigans at Petrojam.

The executives, both past and present, of this much talked about company, have been through the wringer in the last few months.

These are grown men and women, and they always seem to squirm once the questions start flying in from the likes of Dehring, Golding and Warmington.

Can you imagine poor me a try explain my answer to a difficult question from Mr Cantankerous himself, Everald Warmington?

One of two things would happen, and both would involve a rather abrupt end to the proceedings.

One, I would probably run out of the sitting, crying like I broke my toy car when I was five. Pretty certain that at the very least, I would make the national papers the next day.

The second possibility would be far more dramatic and would essentially end my professional career.

I envision telling any member of the PAAC who happened to be grilling me at that time, that politicians have no moral authority to accuse anyone of wrongdoing.

I would then tell said member, about where he or she can stick their questions and I would then storm out.

Me not even a tek up di paper dem. I'm walking out, chest puffed up, head leaned back, and arms rocking side to side like the TV character George Jefferson.

I'm pretty certain I wouldn't get a job in the public sector after that, and I don't know any private sector company that would really take up a loose cannon like me.

But I'm pretty certain I would still have my peace of mind. And quite frankly, despite the headaches I have in my current profession, at least I sleep at night.

So keep unnu big position, keep unnu big car, keep unnu big everyting. Mi good!
