Iconic Travel and Events’ Kaseka Daley exudes her passion about entrepreneurship in a recent interview with the Flair Magazine.

Kaseka Daley has a vision. The self-driven young entrepreneur and motivator wants to make and leave behind indelible markings on the society. She uses herself as an example for other youth and business enthusiasts to follow.

She currently owns and operates two businesses, Iconic Travels and Events, a travel agency; and Icontech Construction, a construction company. She is also preparing to launch Route 218 Tours, a tour-guide entity.

“My mother taught me that education is the way out of poverty and hardships, and I believe that. I really believe that entrepreneurship is the true way out. Having that freedom and control over your destiny is more important, and these are what have brought me to where I am today,” she explained.

She created her first business plan while in high school. The detailed plan laid out the route to establishing her ultimate business venture, an exquisite restaurant that caters to all foodies. According to Daley, it’s the best start-up formula that she has ever created. However, the go-getter is yet to act upon on it and bring this desire to fruition, but she says that she will not rest until she is finally able to do so.

Although she has copped some major accomplishments, her road to victory was not smooth. The Clarendon native’s path was filled with bumps and stumbling blocks, trials and failures. It was the principles she learnt from her family with its small footing in society, that kept her. To date, these continue to keep the dedicated individual reaching for her goals.

VIBRANT LEADER

Chirpy, persistent, versatile, and committed are ways one can describe this self-starter. Daley loves being her own boss, but confesses that managing an entity is not the source of her happiness. Instead, starting up a business gives her greater satisfaction than anything else in the world.

“I like to be behind the scenes, but still be known and make an impact. Talking about myself is the hardest thing I will ever do. Contrary to what others will say about me, I’m very introverted. Yes, I will socialise but only when I have to. But I am very driven and adventurous, I really like to travel. This is why I believe entrepreneurship best suites me,” a timid Daley explained.

She is currently running her last lap at The University of Technology (UTech) completing her third degree in Civil Engineering.

In 2012, Iconic Travels signalled the beginning of an entrepreneur expedition that she does not plan to end anytime soon. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management and an Associate Degree in Architecture and Construction Technology.

Prior to taking on this financial risk in hopes of making a profit, Daley, like many worked in the hotel industry. It’s an experience she characterised as contemporary enslavement and wishes others would fearlessly step out into the enterprising realm.

“I’ve always wanted to become an entrepreneur because I figure that if you’re going to walk through doors might as well you own the building. I’ve created mine and it is fun for me to walk through them, so, I’ll work for myself for the rest of my life,” she said.

Still, Daley is thankful for the experience she was afforded in the hospitality sector, as examining the operations of travel agencies then, fuelled her interest and urge to become independent. It setted her on par to establishing her own.

Now she implores others to seek information and gain the necessary knowledge to get ahead.
