Apology

On Sunday, 31 May, 2015, The Sunday Gleaner published an article titled ‘The lottery is a nasty tax on poor people’, which was featured on the front page of the In Focus section of the paper.

By the use of the words ‘unethical’ and ‘criminal’ in the article, the article unfairly and without proper basis characterised Supreme Ventures Ltd, its Chairman Paul Hoo, its Deputy Chairman Ian K. Levy, the directors and executive management of the company as earning their money by unethical, criminal and illegal means.

The Gleaner apologises to Supreme Ventures Limited, Mr Paul Hoo, Mr Ian Kent Levy, OD, the members of the board, management and staff of Supreme Ventures Ltd, for any embarrassment the article may have caused.

The Gleaner further recognises that Supreme Ventures Ltd is both a publicly traded company and a company that operates ALL of the lottery games under an issued Betting and Gaming licence and is, therefore, subject to the scrutiny and regulation of both the Jamaica Stock Exchange and the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission.
