Imagine mouth-watering indulgence of natural food that not only tastes great, but is great for you. Pair that with the dining experience of a rustic decor rocking a myriad of bright and bold colours. Sounds heavenly, right? This euphoric encounter awaits you at the doors of Living Food and Juices.

“You cannot buy health; you must earn it through healthy living.” Medical doctor Joel Furhman might have said this, but living out this passion on purpose is raw food chef health coach, Kerry Coote.

Known in the style world as Kerry Kay, she aspires to bring fashion to food by providing creatively vibrant, plant-based cuisine. Food visited the quaint bistro in Lane Plaza recently and was surprised at the wide variety of innovative dishes on the menu. Put a healthier twist on all cuisine, the culinary team composes a symphony of flavour with an array of herbs and spices daily.

“We are a big advocate of letting food be your medicine. We cook everything that’s natural and only offer dishes of that nature. Our menu is gluten-free and very low in sodium. We don’t use any ingredients from animals, so we don’t cook meat or use canned food. And we prepare dishes with either original and authentic coconut oil or olive oil,” Chef Guiliano Hutchinson explained.

Sourcing from local organic farmers, the produce gathered have to meet their high standards before it reaches the plate. “We like transparency, for the reason that we have to answer to our customers: it’s our aim to be as loyal and continue to be devoted to their wants and needs,” Coote added.

In the beverage department, herbal teas, good-old-fashioned chocolate tea, coffee, natural smoothies and juices are in high demand. The 10-stage filtered water is described as next to heaven.

Since opening almost three weeks ago, Coote has been receiving good reviews and repeat customers. “I want it to feel like home, like we are taking care of you: that’s what food is about,” she said.

Aside from dining, Coote does classes on living the plant-based lifestyle and has a children’s cooking club.

With ‘wow’ news on the tasty horizon, let Living Food and Juices’ warm, proficient staff and refreshing environment charm you with vitality you need to lighten your day, “We want you to maximise on your health, in a savoury way, so you can live your best life possible.”
