They say all is fair in love and war. But what happens when you bring rum into the mix? On Sunday, Jamaicans and the world celebrated National Rum Day. To the delight of their taste buds, many basked in the sipping bliss of their favourite cocktail mixes.

So why stop the celebrations? Food is here to bring you the amazing highlights from last week. To honour the day, Appleton Estate came with a host of activities for rum lovers. One of those virtual festivities included Wayne Marshall and Tami Chin engaging in a mix off.

If you know anything about Wayne and Tami, then you would be well aware that this loving couple has already shown their competitive streak in their YouTube series, Meet the Mitchells. So, they didn’t hesitate to bring their A-game and display their winning spirit when it came to accomplishing this mixing mission.

The ‘Tami and Wayne Mix Off’ involved having the couple create these two popular concoctions, Joy’s Cocktail and Estate Daiquiri. Both mixes are favourites among rum lovers locally and internationally.

The two got right to work in a heated battle, shaking, mixing, stirring and straining their way to euphoric heights. Agent Tami was a smooth operator when making Joy’s Cocktail, successfully shaking all of her ingredients together before straining the mix into a chilled Coupette glass, much to the excitement of onlookers and her viewers, as well as to the delight of her supportive competitor.

The male contender Wayne Marshall threw a mighty punch, exuding stellar skills when whipping up the signature Estate Daiquiri. For efficient drinking pleasure, he made sure to pour two ounces of Appleton Estate 8-Year-Old reserve so that his mix was just right.

In the end, the two winners made a toast to a job well done, indulging in the perfect sipping experience. After all, two drinks are better than none.
