With so many playing catch up this festive season and some, in light of COVID-19 restrictions, opting to keep festivities small, the decision could be made to stay out of the kitchen altogether and consider catering for Christmas Day.

Choosing what goes into these festive feasts from Chive Restaurant’s catering menu was easy. Holiday dishes that scream Jamaican Christmas include traditional gungo peas soup, ham (brown sugar mustard-glazed) and country-style curried goat all made the official line-up. The dedicated team also added its signature three mac and cheese, mango basil salmon, sorrel-glazed smoked pork chops, coconut seafood rundown and vegan coconut curried channa pot, from the usual main menu into the mix.

“We are not only aiming to eliminate or lessen the stress of working tirelessly in the kitchen, but to bring back memories of a traditional Christmas as well. Our menu transcends a touch of Chive into every dish – whether that means an infusion of our curated sauces or special herb blends,” owner Nanda Dukharan told Food.

And what’s a Christmas dinner without dessert? You can taste the love baked into the Chive sorrel ginger cheesecake, signature rum cream cheesecake, and holiday bread pudding with rum-soaked raisins, dried cranberries and caramel sauce.

The restaurant, located at Orchid Plaza in Liguanea, boasts contemporary indoor and outdoor dining. Known for incredibly scrumptious dishes, as well as idyllic wine selections and mixed delights, once you enter the doors, you’re encouraged to eat, drink and chive.

Since the global pandemic, the team have shifted with the times to offer delivery to its valued customers.

The idea to cater came about after quite a few customers reached out, requesting the menu in the comfort of their homes. “Many of us are looking forward to relaxing this holiday, especially with how the year has been going. Chive has decided to take the hassle off for the season. That means either having a full dinner or even a few of Chive’s favourites dishes on the dinner table this Christmas. There is no limit to how many different dishes can be ordered,” she explained further.

With the belief that hope is the single most important wish for everyone during these unusual times, Dukharan aspires to deliver just that in the most delicious package. That way, you can savour dinner one mouth-watering bite at a time.
