It was non-stop movement at Jessie Ripoll Primary School on Saturday, October 5, as Sweet Energy hosted the third morning workout of The Gleaner’s Fit 4 Life Season 3: Fit in 5.

Dubbed Infinite Energy, the third event of the season surpassed all expectations, threatening to shatter the intensity barometer.

Sweet Energy’s Robert ‘Astro’ Whyte, not one to disappoint, set the tempo from the get-go, promising no let-up for the weak in body or the faint of heart.

“Only God can help you,” he quipped as he promised to keep Fit 4 Lifers on their toes until the very last second.

Not wanting to seem weak, many dug deep into their reserves to show their strength, but the grimaces on their faces told a different tale.

The morning’s workout was split into two groups. One set was sent to learn the latest moves from the Endevarous Dancers, while the other group faced a tough 15-part circuit boot camp at the hands of Astro and his team. Half-way through the workout, the groups switched places.

Or, at least, that was the intention. Some enjoyed the dancing so much that they opted for a second round with Endevarous, while others chose to run the circuit again. Still, others fell to the sidelines, spent, having already completed the routines a few times.

PARTNER SQUAT FIREWORKS

After the workout, Fit 4 Lifers were treated to a trainers-vs-dancers display by Sweet Energy and Endevarous Dancers before Astro and MC Sheena-Kay Sinclair got them fired up for the challenges and cool down.

The challenges proved to be another exciting segment, with the PowerAde partner squat – in which males were forced to squat for one minute while holding a female on their backs – eliciting the greatest reaction from the crowd. The competition was won by Gavin Francis

Other challenges included push-ups, tyre flips, tyre lifts and mountain climbers.

Sponsors Jamaica Moves, WATA, PowerAde, Foska Oats, Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Milk, Elle & Vire, Caribbean Choice, Gustazos, Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa, JP St Mary’s, Medical Associates Hospital & Medical Centre, and GraceKennedy Money Services made sure that, from hydration to health checks, Fit 4 Lifers were well taken care of.

Jennifer Hart-Creary and her team were once again on hand to fill the needs of those who desired a relaxing massage.

The next exciting Gleaner Fit 4 Life workout takes place this Saturday at In Motion Gym, where taskmaster Stokely Rose and the Trainfit Club team will deliver a dose of Outdoor Madness.
