Fit 4 Life | Beach fitness with TrainFit
Fit 4 Lifers had a whale of a time on Saturday at the very first beach event of The Gleaner’s health and fitness initiative.
Stokely Rose and the TrainFit Wellness Club executed a fun and exciting but intense boot camp at the Little Copa Beach in Bull Bay, St Andrew. And even with every muscle aching, Fit 4 Lifers said they would gladly do it all over again.
The beach circuit featured rope and boxing training with fitness instructors Collel Hogg and Hugh Lewis, sand drills with trainers Lacrisha Smalling and Tateeq Blackwood, dance aerobics with Oliver Chaplin and Andro Henry, and core and upper-body training with Jo-Hanna Taylor and Carol McPherson.
After enjoying goodies and treats from sponsors Jamaica Moves, WATA, PowerAde, Foska Oats, Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Milk, Elle & Vire, Caribbean Choice, Gustazos, Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa, JP St Mary’s, Medical Associates Hospital & Medical Centre, and GraceKennedy Money Services, contestants took to the sand for the challenges.
Ahon Gray did it again in the PowerAde hammer pan run; Ruth Howard was on top of her game in the PowerAde frog jumps; Andrea Clarke took the top prize in the PowerAde backward jump squats; Kemau Williams won the reptile crawl courtesy of Fit 4 Life brand ambassador Dr Alfred Dawes; and George ‘Mr Fit 4 Life’ Thorpe won the Fit 4 Life rope pull.
Collette Dunn, Andrea Blair, and Ruth Howard won spot prizes courtesy of Fit 4 Life sponsor Eden Gardens Wellness Resort & Spa.
