The police have confirmed that the two men arrested last Thursday in connection with a money laundering probe have been charged with corruption-related offences.

According to the police Corporate Communication Unit, engineer Lawrence Pommels, 33, and mechanic Ricardo Harris, 34, have been charged with possession of criminal property and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

The disclosure comes more a week after a multi-agency investigation culminated with the seizure of $35 million in cash and four high-end motor vehicles during two operations in New Harbour, St Catherine.

It's reported that a BMW X6, an Audi sports utility vehicle and a Honda Accord were among the motor vehicles seized during the operation.

One man was taken into custody.

Law enforcement sources revealed that a number of secondary operations related to the probe has resulted in the seizure of a still undetermined sum of cash.
