The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information Region 6 yesterday hosted an appreciation banquet for retired high-school principals at the Knutsford Court Hotel in St Andrew. The occasion also served as the launch of the School Improvement Support Initiative.

Twenty-four school principals who contributed between four and 30 years of service to education were recognised and and honoured with plaques.

As it relates to the School Improvement Support Initiative, assistance will be given to schools that have been rated as unsatisfactory by the National Education Inspectorate. Schools will be exposed to result-based management, as well as monitoring and evaluation training, to give administrators the skills necessary for developing effective intervention programmes.
