‘Chucky’ Brown Trial | Trial to resume next week, witnesses unavailable

Following yesterday's revelation that the prosecution's final two witnesses are not available this week, the trial for murder-accused police Constable Collis 'Chucky' Brown has been adjourned until Monday.
Brown is being tried for the January 10, 2009, murder of Robert 'Gutty' Dawkins and the December 13, 2012, murders of Dwayne Douglas and Andrew Fearon.
He is also facing one charge of wounding with intent and one charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
Crime scene examiner at the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM), Kathrina Graham testified yesterday that she was present at the autopsy of Douglas and Fearon on December 24, 2012, at a funeral home in Clarendon.
She said that she received reference blood samples for both of the deceased as well as two bullets taken from Fearon's body and that she also took photographs of the bodies.
A reference blood sample is used to compare with blood collected from the site of an incident.
After the post-mortem, Graham said that she returned to the INDECOM head office in St Andrew, where the items were placed in a refrigerator in the forensic department.
According to the witness, the items were placed in labelled envelopes, sealed with tape, and signed by the pathologist.
The defence had no questions for the witness.
Five statements were also adduced into evidence, including from Douglas's mother and Fearon's sister.
In the meantime, the prosecution and defence will be reviewing the various statements adduced into evidence to redact portions of them that they believe will be prejudicial to the accused. This is expected to go on for the rest of the week.
Brown was taken into custody on January 14, 2014.
