The countdown to Black Friday, arguably the biggest shopping day of the year globally, has officially begun and is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on some of the best deals, as retailers promise to heavily slash prices on a wide range of products.

So whether you are after a new television, laptop or even a new phone, get the best deals this weekend using MultiLink, the smartest and most secure accepted debit card islandwide.

The RJRGLEANER Communications Group has partnered with MultiLink to ensure that customers save money on big-ticket items ahead of Christmas in a safe and secure environment.

According to Edmundo Jenez, chief executive officer at JETS Limited, owners and operators of the MultiLink network, consumers can shop safely with their monies in their bank accounts.

CLOSE TO 1.4 MILLION USERS ANNUALLY

"The MultiLink network provides interoperability between financial institutions that utilise the terminals with their cards. It is a large network with close to 1.4 million users annually. The network provides safety and convenience that consumers can use their cards where they see the MultiLink sign. The money stays safely in their accounts and is only used when they need it," Jenez said.

JETS Limited has knitted together an interface between the MultiLink electronic cash system, mobile money and other e-payment products offered by its shareholders and operates the MultiLink system on behalf of the local banks that own it.

The MultiLink operator, before incorporation, began life as Jamaica Electronic Transfer Services Association, but changed its name to JETS when the name was registered by an unrelated party. Its main business since that time has been overseeing the integrated electronic transaction service, involving point-of-sale and automated teller machine terminals, under the MultiLink brand.

"The idea that began in 1987 came to fruition 10 years later in 1997 and has been a good example of what collaboration between industries can do. Persons can use their cards safely, whilst getting great deals on products and services," Jenez said.

Mega offers of up to 70% discounts islandwide

With the partnership of the RJRGLEANER Communications Group and MultiLink, there will be mega offers of up to 70 per cent discounts islandwide on Black Friday.

According to Roxanne Walters, sales and marketing manager, radio services, the multimedia conglomerate is a powerful communications group that speaks to the Jamaican population and the message will be disseminated across all the brands of the organisation.

"The sales are definitely worth the wait and we want to engage customers that were not able to participate before, while also recognising that persons may shop online or even go overseas for the event. Our objective is to promote local shopping using the MultiLink platform," Walters said.

Jamaica's first islandwide Black Friday event is scheduled to take place over two days, November 23-24. Visit go-jamaica/bffjamaica.com for participating stores.
