An alleged member of the Uchence Wilson Gang, Lanworth ‘Zeeks’ Geohagen, attempted to flee police when they were about to conduct a search of his vehicle at the Bog Walk Police Station in St Catherine on December 2, 2017, the court was told yesterday.

A police corporal testified that he observed Geohagen running at what he described as “bird speed”, eventually jumping into a gully and then a river.

He said that he and other cops went in pursuit of Geohagen, apprehending the accused and bringing him back to the police station, where they conducted the search of the vehicle.

Nothing of interest, according to the witness, was found in the vehicle.

The cop was giving testimony in the trial of Wilson and his 23 alleged cronies at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.

Earlier on the day in question, the police corporal said he had received a call that caused him to visit the police station.

On his arrival, he said he saw and spoke to Geohagen, who was sitting on a bench outside the police station.

He told the court that he informed Geohagen that they would be searching his vehicle.

The police corporal said that it was at this point that the accused tried to make his escape.

The court also heard evidence that days after Odean ‘Brinks’ Smith denied having guns, he made a call to a police corporal informing him of the location of one of the guns allegedly given to him by accused Stephenson ‘Slim’ Bennet to be sold.

The beretta, recovered by police on November 3, 2017, was today admitted into evidence.

Meanwhile, more recordings of conversations between Wilson and other alleged gang members were played in court.

Wilson was heard making a plea to the police in one of the recordings.

“Mi willing to change mi life, enuh. Is a Christian mi a go road go tun, enuh, Genna. A nuh gimmicks mi a talk,” the reputed gang leader was heard saying to the police.

Wilson and his 23 alleged gang members are being tried for various breaches of the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organisations) Act 2014, commonly known as the anti-gang legislation, for crimes allegedly committed between 2015 and 2017.

They are also being tried for breaches of the Firearms Act.
