Manchester High principal Jasford Gabriel wins JTA presidential elections

Manchester High School principal Jasford Gabriel has won the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA's) presidential election.

He will be sworn in as president-elect on Monday, August 19 and will take the reigns as president in 2020.

Gabriel emerged winner ahead of two other candidates in the 2019 president elections held from June 17-21.

RESULTS:
6,500 votes - Jasford Gabriel, Principal, Manchester High, Mandeville, Manchester.
3,209 votes -  Winston Smith, Principal, Golden Spring Primary, St. Andrew.
1,582 votes - Lasonja Harrison, Interim Principal, St Faith's Primary, St. Catherine.

The JTA says a total of 12,044 votes were cast in the elections.

Gabriel will be proclaimed president-elect at the JTA’s annual conference scheduled for the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay, St James in August.
