Corporal Kirk Lawrence, who has been charged with the murder of his wife, Janet Hardie-Lawrence, was remanded when he appeared in the St Mary Parish Court recently.

Lawrence, who is represented by attorney-at-law Oswest Senior-Smith, is to return to court on September 9 to answer to the charge.

Hardie-Lawrence’s body was found with gunshot wounds at the couple’s home in Tower Isle, St Mary, on May 28.

Lawrence was subsequently taken into custody and charged after being questioned.

Hardie-Lawrence’s death caused grief among residents, especially those in St Ann, where she operated a business and was a well-loved philanthropist who supported community activities and schools over the years.

Previous attempts by Lawrence’s lawyer to secure bail were denied by parish court judge Alwayne Smith.
