Jamaican jailed for sex video in Guyana

A Jamaican man has been jailed in Guyana for escaping police custody there while being held for sharing a sex video on social media platform WhatsApp.
The convict, 33-year-old Anthony Lynch, alias ‘Russian’, was sentenced to nine months in prison last Friday when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The charges against the man are that in January, while being held in custody at the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Georgetown, Lynch escaped.
He was subsequently apprehended on May 29.
In addition to his latest conviction, Lynch is also serving a one-year prison term since May 31, after pleading guilty to “knowingly or without justification, exposed for public viewing, an obscene video, intending to corrupt public morals”.
Prosecutors said Lynch showed the video to a number of individuals, including relatives of the victim.
He was also punished for overstaying in Guyana.
Lynch was granted five months to stay in the country when he arrived there on November 16, 2016.
