Three constables charged

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DDP) has ruled that three constables assigned to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch be arrested for breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

Their arrest follows allegations that on Sunday, September 8, Constables Kevin Fairclough, Junior Reid, and Sadiki Williams solicited J$6,000 from a motorist who committed a traffic violation. The money was paid over and shared among the constables.

A report was subsequently made to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and a file on the matter given to the Office of the DPP, which ruled that the men be charged for Accepting Money to do an Act in the performance of Their Duty.

They were each offered bail in the sum of J$200,000 and are scheduled to appear before the court.
