Crime sleuths in St Ann’s Bay are still trying to piece together clues in Saturday’s mass shooting in the seaside St Ann town that left five persons nursing injuries.

Reports are that some minutes to 4 o’clock on Saturday morning, several persons were playing games at stalls close to the St Ann’s Bay Market when two men approached the group and opened fire.

Five persons, including two teen girls, were hit and rushed to the nearby St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital. Up to yesterday, two had been released, while two of the remaining three hospitalised were said to be in serious condition.

“We’re following a couple of leads, trying to find out the basis for it,” Senior Superintendent Calvin Small, commander for the St Ann police, told The Gleaner yesterday. “We’re trying to look into the possibility of some reprisal being carried out.”
