Police investigators are probing the second incident in three days in which a body was placed in a barrel, this time in the commercial district of downtown Kingston.

Reports reaching The Gleaner are that about 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, a police team on patrol observed two boys acting suspiciously and pushing a handcart with a blue plastic barrel at the corner of Pechon and Beckford streets.

Both juveniles ran leaving the handcart.

On further checks by the police team, the body of an unidentified woman was found in the barrel among the rubbish.

Our news team understands that the deceased’s hands and feet were bound.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) said that the woman appeared to be about 20 years old. She was slim-built and clad in a multicoloured blouse and a blue jeans shorts

The Denham Town police are investigating this incident.

Whitehall shooting

Meanwhile, investigators in St Andrew North are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a man identified only as ‘Cucus’ after he, too, was found Sunday in a barrel at the entrance to 60 Whitehall Avenue.

He was reportedly shot to death and placed in the barrel where rubbish was being burnt. Residents stumbled on the body and summoned the police.

The body was found about 1:40 a.m., the police said. They are investigating whether he was killed elsewhere and his body dumped at the location.
