Digicel Foundation donates 1,000 tablets for students
The Digicel Foundation has donated 1,000 tablets with one-year free data plan to the Government to be distributed to students.
Six hundred of the devices will go to the Labour Ministry for students with disabilities and 400 will go to the Education Ministry.
Earlier this week, Karl Samuda, the minister with responsibility for education, said there was not enough tablets to distribute to students needing them.
According to Samuda, the ministry only had 7,000 tablets but there was a need for thousands more as the demand for electronic devices increases amid the COVID pandemic.
There has been increased demand for smart devices as schools switch to online learning.
