Carnival has been put off till April 2021.

Marching bands and revellers won’t get a chance to strut their feathers and shake their bums on the annual road march in 2020.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced late Friday that the carnival would be a casualty of tightened COVID-19 restrictions until April 11, 2021.

“As the country enters the community transmission phase of the COVID-19 virus, we strongly believe it is in the best interest of our people to forgo hosting our annual carnival celebrations for this year,” Bartlett said.

“We are mindful of the significant economic loss this will have on our country.”

The cancellation of carnival is part of the estimated $26 billion hit to the entertainment industry this year.

The road parade, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 19, was first postponed to Sunday, October 25.
