The Savanna-la-Mar police are probing the death of a popular businessman in the Westmoreland capital and the shooting and wounding of three persons, including a baby, during a robbery along Rose Street on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Devon ‘Sixties’ Clarke, of Darliston, also in the parish.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m., Clarke was at his business place on Rose Street in Savanna-la-Mar when he was attacked by two men travelling on a motorcycle who demanded money.

The woman and her three-month-old-baby boy, who were also inside the establishment, sustained gunshot wounds.

A security guard who was on duty at the establishment attempted to disarm one of the gunmen but was also shot and injured.

All four victims were rushed to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, where Clarke was pronounced dead and the woman and her baby, along with the security guard, treated and admitted in stable condition.
