The heavy hand of the law came down once again on Uchence Wilson, the leader of a gang bearing his name, and several of his cronies.

Yesterday, Chief Justice Bryan Sykes while continuing his summation of the case found Wilson, Derron Taylor, Fitzroy Scott and Michael Lamonth guilty on count 38 of the indictment.

That charge refers to facilitating the commission of a serious offence by a criminal organisation.

The matter is being heard in the Home Circuit Court at the Supreme Court building in downtown Kingston.

2017 robbery

The prosecution led evidence that the men robbed a family in St Ann in 2017.

They were accused of stealing cell phones and a bus.

Keron Walters was found not guilty of the same charge.

Wilson and several of his co-accused were found guilty on multiple charges yesterday including illegal possession of firearm and shooting with intent.

Wilson, Taylor, Stephenson Bennett, Machel Goulbourne and Michael Lamonth were found not guilty on another charge of burglary and larceny yesterday.

The presiding judge stated that the evidence against the men was insufficient to convict them on that charge although he believed the statement of the Crown witness.

On another matter, Sykes, after he has, on more than one occasion, questioned the credibility of the prosecution star witness, said he was not prepared to act on his testimony.

This as Wilson, Scott, Kenneth Wynter and Bennett were found not guilty on count 16 of the indictment which refers to burglary and larceny in relation to an incident which the prosecution said took place on Paddington Terrace in St Andrew at the home of a medical doctor.

The gang, which is alleged to have wreaked havoc in St Catherine, Clarendon, St Andrew, St Mary, Manchester, Trelawny and St Ann, was busted in December 2017.

It is said that the gang pulled in more than $400 million from its illegal activities across the island and was linked to 12 licensed firearms that were reported stolen during 18 robberies.

The chief justice will continue his summation on Monday.
