COVID outbreak at Mustard Seed facility, 36 cases identified

Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton said, 20 are residents and 16 are staff members.

A coronavirus outbreak has hit a Mustard Seed Communities facility in St Catherine.

Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton said, 36 cases have been confirmed at the facility.

According to Tufton, 20 are residents and 16 are staff members.

He also said the positive staff members have been isolated at home, while the infected residents have been isolated at the facility.

Jamaica on Wednesday recorded five COVID deaths with ages ranging from 39 to 67 years, increasing the tally to 179.

Meanwhile, there were 155 new infections pushing the tally to 8,600 with 4,214 active.
