WESTERN BUREAU:

A cloud of mystery surrounds the death of 20-year-old Christie ‘Kiddy’ McBean, who was found dead with a single stab wound to the chest at her home in Hurlock, St James, on Monday morning.

According to a relative, McBean, who worked at a call centre in the Westgate area of Montego Bay, was found in a pool of blood by her mother about 6:30 a.m.

Her six-month-old daughter, who was found in a crib, was unhurt and has since been given a clean bill of health by doctors at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

It is theorised that the infant had not eaten since last Saturday when her mom was believed to be left for dead by her attacker(s) in her home at Lover’s Lane in Hurlock.

“Her mom has not been able to speak since she saw her body,” said the relative, who added that having not heard from her daughter all weekend, she went to check on her on Monday morning and found the door ajar.

The death of the former St James High School student has left the community in a state of shock.

“Kiddy was very quiet. She nuh trouble nobody,” a neighbour told The Gleaner of the young woman, who had lived in the community since her years at Irwin Primary School but had only recently moved to the Lover’s Lane area.

When The Gleaner visited the area yesterday afternoon, the mood was solemn and McBean’s mother had gone to the hospital to pick up her grandchild.

A Catherine Hall, St James, man has been named a person of interest as police probe the death.

The man, David Brown, was reportedly seen with McBean last Saturday and was known to her, says Senior Superintendent Vernon Ellis.

Brown is being asked to make contact with the Montego Bay police immediately as they believe he may be able to assist with the investigation.

And as the police searched for clues in that murder yesterday, an Ananda Alert was activated in the neighbouring John’s Hall community for a 15-year-old girl who went missing last Saturday night.

The youngster, Tashe-Ann Jarrett, is of dark complexion, slim build, and about five feet, four inches tall.

Reports from the Spring Mount police are that Tashe-Ann was last seen at home about 7 p.m., wearing a pink blouse, orange shorts, and a pair of black and white slippers.

Anyone knowing her whereabouts is being asked to contact the Spring Mount police at 876-610-6223, police 119 emergency number, or the nearest police station.
