The St Ann police have arrested a man in relation to the gruesome murder of his sister in Content Gardens, Ocho Rios, Monday night.

The woman has been identified as 56-year-old Michelle Roache, who operated the Healing Stream Spiritual Temple in Content Gardens, and whose title, according to her daughter Victoria Roache, was Archbishop Reverend Mother.

Roache was stabbed several times and her throat cut around 10 p.m. after argument over the disconnection of electricity to her house, which is located in the same yard.

The argument reportedly took place in the dark, and a man who said he was in the yard was forced to run for help after he was allegedly attacked while trying to help the woman.

By the time others came, it was too late.

Several hours after the police had left on Tuesday, about a dozen people milled about the yard, where bloodspatter stretched to a wall and up stairs to a veranda.

Victoria was too distraught to speak to the media, but Emile Roache, 23, the youngest of five children for the deceased, summoned courage despite her grief.

“You see the wounds what she get? No care even if across the road di hospital deh, she woulda dead,” he said with resignation.

The son said his mother sustained several stab wounds and had her throat slashed.

“Him even bruck a knife inna har head,” Emile added.

He described his late mother as the protector of her children.

“Mi a mi mother wash belly,” said Emile, referencing the colloquialism for the youngest child. “Mi mother a mi heart, mi mother protect we,” he said.

“If mi mother say no go a road today because things a go happen, things a go happen; mi mother always a guide we.”
