Don't give bank gunslinger platform to vent

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I was just reading the Gleaner Online article about the Firearm Licensing Authority investigating the incident that happened at NCB Half-Way Tree yesterday and I saw at the bottom where you said you will be running the man's 'side' of the story on Saturday.

I think this is a horrible and potentially disastrous move and a gross miscalculation on the part of The Gleaner.

Why is he getting airtime or any attention? By running a story/interview where he is able to 'justify' his terrible, irresponsible, frightening and disrespectful behaviour, he's being rewarded for wrongdoing. Any attention this man is receiving that does not condemn his actions is a bad message to send.

There's no 'side of his story' for him to tell. He was wrong. There is no reason for him to have done that. And there is NO scenario in which he should be able to receive media attention that gives him the opportunity to justify his actions. If he wants to tell his side of the story, he can tell it to the authorities or a judge. But not through the media.
