Almost every day ...

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Almost every day, someone is stabbed to death in Jamaica: almost every day, a woman is slaughtered by a hooligan in Jamaica: almost every day, someone's throat is slashed by a monster in Jamaica. Wow! What a violent country!

Is there another Caribbean country like Jamaica, where more than 1,000 people are being slaughtered in a year? Is there another place like Jamaica, where so many people are being butchered by knives and machetes? Is there another small island, like Jamaica, with such a small population, where the crime rate is so high? I don't believe so!

Why has Jamaica, with the most churches per square mile in the Caribbean, become such a violent country, one of the most fearful and dangerous countries to live in?

Could it be because there is a lack of love, or because we don't truly love one another, the way God told us or expects us to love one another?
