Carry on, Mr Holness

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am still a bit confused by a letter to the editor in your newspaper titled 'Boot McNeill as tourism spokesman' (June 11, 2018) written by 'Upset Supporter'. The person is without a doubt a supporter of the People's National Party (PNP) who is bitter against Dr Wykeham McNeill.

The fundamental concern from the writer is the number of PNP supporters who have been removed from key posts in the tourism ministry. It is easy to see that there is a lot of bitterness around towards this Government as it puts the country on a pathway to growth and development.

Jamaica was run for more than 18 consecutive years by the PNP (1989-2007), and any sensible person would agree that they did not do a good job.

It should come as no surprise then that the Government is placing qualified and competent supporters in a handful of roles to get its agenda moved forward, as any administration that enjoyed such a long run in power essentially captures the public sector.

Nevertheless, many do their job well, while others are hell-bent on sabotaging any Jamaica Labour Party government.

My advice to Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his Government is to carry on with the job of leading this country to prosperity. The JLP needs at least two terms to properly prove itself, and so far no one can deny that it is trying.

Business people in general are confident about the country's future, and agriculture seems to be turning the corner.

Carry on, Mr Holness, carry on.
