Floyd Grindley's dedication unquestionable

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I write in reference to the unfolding Petrojam saga. As previously carried in the news, the Jamaican-appointed directors have tendered their resignation after meeting with the honourable minister, Andrew Wheatley. I believe that this is a remarkable move which will allow the general manager, Floyd Grindley, to have full autonomy in leading the company through this turbulent period.

Mr Grindley has perhaps been the only general manager to interact closely with staff member at all levels. Oftentimes, he is on the ground walking the plant and listening to even what we would refer to as the 'little man'. His dedication to the company is unquestionable as he is often at work seven days for the week, inclusive of public holidays. His vision for the company is sound and should be nurtured and encouraged by a board of directors, ready to give guidance and oversight and not get directly involved in the day- to-day operations of the company.

In relation to the $12-million HR manager, she simply needs to go as she adds no value to the company. Let's give Mr Grindley a chance to prove himself.
