What were you thinking?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The recent disclosure of a rather sketchy proposal made by the People's National Party (PNP) candidate for West Rural St Andrew, Miss Jennifer Housen, to provide piped water to the residents of Mount Zion, Red Hills, has left me with many unanswered questions.

These questions, however, I will reserve for now because the reality of the situation is that Miss Housen must have lost her mind. The proposal would see one resident allowing other residents to connect to their main water connection with the National Water Commission (NWC).

I'm all for prosperity and Jamaicans having access to necessary basic amenities, but, I'm pretty sure no one is comfortable with this kind of leaching, or should I say 'tapping'.

This is exactly the type of free loading mentality the PNP is about.

This is precisely the sort of policy the PNP for years have enacted, costing the Jamaican people billions. What if the letter was not leaked on social media? What does her party have to say about this kind of trickery? Is this another political stunt gone wrong? Why did you go off the radar now that the investigations have started?

While NWC investigates, Madam Caretaker, and we await your re-emergence, I suggest you investigate the style of politics you have adopted and see if it complements your character as not just an assumingly upstanding citizen, but a lawyer.
