Thieves lay siege to St Bess

Published:Sunday | October 21, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am writing on behalf of all the people who have been traumatised by a wave of robberies in St Elizabeth.

We simply are dealing with some barefaced criminals.

We are left to deal with our issues on our own because policing is limited.

All of this needs to stop. For too long, we have been afraid of leaving our houses. We aren't safe anymore.

Just recently, a major robbery took place at a popular gas station in the capital. It wasn't even the time when 'dogs fraid'; the town was busy and that didn't stop those criminals.

Where is our society gone when we can't go out without feeling afraid that we might find ourselves held up at gunpoint?

In order to stop this wave of robberies, we need to coordinate on all levels. It won't be an overnight fix; nothing is.

Let's take back our communities and reclaim our sense of safety.
